Artists Mission
Statement
A common theme that I consider within my compositions resounds as a question in my mind, “Why be normal when you can be interesting?” I strive to take the everyday and apply my vision, providing a unique perspective that lives within reality but translated through an avant garde filter that is my creative mind. Exploring values with charcoal, inks and washes, my goal is to take the chaos of a blank page and be an architect of something that inspires thought and emotion from nothing.
Finding light in the darkness is a common theme that I explore, as even in the inkiest shadows, light must exist, otherwise the dark would not. The dark merely hides the truths around us, the fact that we are not isolated; many share the same perspective and struggle with different places in their lives. Implementing tongue in cheek nuance, I examine the subject through filter of a contemporary social commentary to make the theme relatable to a wide audience. Due to my passion for figurative forms, this leans heavily into an interest in mental health awareness as well as social equity.
Creative
Approach
Not one to limit what my approach is, as there are many different methods to reach the desired outcome. I use a multi-media approach through both traditional mediums as well as digital. I like to push the boundaries, creating a narrative that gets the viewer to reflect in the deeper meaning behind the image. Initially having a passion for drawing and illustration, I have found that the path of exploration has introduced me to a second love of photography and graphic design.
